  • Ms. Niehus was a testifying expert and provided damage calculations on behalf of National Health Administrators in a dispute against Life Investors Insurance Company of America (now merged into Transamerica Life Insurance Company) regarding contingent commissions. The jury verdict in favor of NHA was ranked number 4 in Contract Cases in Verdict Search's Top Texas Verdicts of 2010.
  • Two different arbitrations, each involving a dispute between the buyer and seller of a block of disability insurance.
  • A class action involving an insurance company's claim practices on individual health insurance policies.
  • A class action involving an insurance company's renewal rating practices on individual health insurance coverage.
  • Two different reinsurance arbitrations involving blocks of small group health insurance.
  • A reinsurance arbitration involving a block of specific and aggregate stop loss medical insurance.
  • Litigation involving the underwriting and placement of a stop-loss policy for self-funded medical plan.
  • Litigation over premium taxes between a number of insurance companies and a state insurance department.
  • Litigation matters related to two different health insurance company insolvencies: one regarding placement of reinsurance and another regarding claims against former officers and directors.
